If you’re going to do something illegal, is it a wise idea to film and publish it on social media? Many apparently think it is.
One young man decided to drive at 233 KPH along a stretch of road with a speed limit of 80 KPH. The said bit of road was a service lane alongside the N-45 in Madrid.
Speedy González was bubbled by a social-media user who came across the video and reported it anonymously via an email to the Policía Nacional using its redesabiertas@policia.es
The video was on a youtube, platform dedicated to car users where people put up videos on test driving, giving positive and negative marks. It has over two-million subscribers. This particular video clocked up 1.3m views in four days.
Once the police got their hands on the footage it was only a matter of time until they identified the road where it took place, the car owner and the actual driver; the car owner, who follows this particular driver on the said youtube channel, had lent him his high-end car to drive and evaluate. However in one part of the video before the test drive commences, the numberplate was clearly visible.
