Busy Beach Weekend

ALM Tesorillo AG2020With the elevated temperatures typical of August last weekend, Almuñécar had a massive beach turn out, as can be expected. Consequently beaches reached and surpassed their maximum occupation limitation on both Saturday and Sunday.

The beaches that had to be temporarily closed were Playa Calabajío and Playa El Pozuelo (Taramay), Playa El Tesorillo (Velilla) and the western end of Playa San Cristóbal in front of Chinasol.

Over in La Herradura, La Playita and Playa Marina del Este, were affected.

According to the Councillor for Playas y Turismo, Daniel Barbero, the “good weather, sea state and average sea temperature of 25ºC, together with the high atmospheric temperatures, turned the second weekend of August into an ideal one for beachgoers.”

Once the maximum occupancy figures were reached on the said beaches, the auxiliary beach workers provided by the Junta directed the newer arrivals to the larger beaches such as the main beaches of La Herradura Bay and the San Cristóbal one (only the western end had problems with over crowding).
