Motril has already led the way with the Costa Tropical’s first beach for dogs and now, owing to demand, it has enlarged the area of the beach for this type of use.
The said beach, which is called Playa del Cable and is literally up against the western end of the port, will now have a total of 12,000 sq/m of sand allocated to beachgoers with their dogs.
There is no trouble knowing which part is reserved for dogs and their owners because the municipal maintenance workers have marked out the area with a fence.
Furthermore, the Town Hall has placed two new wooden walkways to the sea so that dogs don’t burn their paws on the sand getting to the water, explained the Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, José Lemos.
As for space in these times of social distancing on beaches, there is enough room for 5,800 beachgoers accompanied by their dogs. However, at the moment the beach showers are only for humans although the Town Hall hopes to provide ones for dogs, a drinking-water supply and even a ‘play park’, as well.
