There was a loud detonation this morning clearly heard in the Motril area that made more than one local jump.
The sound came from a military aircraft breaking the sound barrier. Obviously, the Spanish Air Force are forbidden from doing this over built up areas but this was not the case this morning.
The military have a flying zone out to sea in the area known as the Mar de Alborán that is used for training exercises. There is a small island out there which has a military garrison on it, as well.
Upon hearing the detonations (apparently there was more than one) some locals thought that it might have been a large, accidental explosion at some nearby location, but the Motril Policía Local confirmed the real origin of the noise.
