The Provincial Councillor for Salud y Familias, Jesús Aguirre, visited the Hospital Santa Ana in Motril to explain about the building extension project.
The said project, the New Edificio Norte that will replace the one recently demolished, will provide much needed extra space in this area hospital.
It will permit the conversion of double rooms into single ones, for example, as well as permit the department that deals with patients with chronic ailments to return to the hospital from its temporary location at the Medical Centre on Avenida de Salobreña.
At the moment the project is pending a report from the legal service of the Servicio Andaluz de Salud. The Council assured that at the moment of his presence in the hospital the project draft had been allocated 100% of the budget needed for the building project.
Editorial comment: given that the importance of our hospitals and their staff has been clearly highlighted during this present health crisis, it would be political suicide for a governing party to start cutting funding to necessary hospital improvements…
