Room for 19,000

SAL Beach OnLThe Mayor of Salobreña says that they commissioned a study whose results say that even when keeping a safety distance, 19,000 people can fit on its beaches.

In previous years, even when the beaches were thriving with summer beachgoers, their numbers never got close to that amount. The reason is simple; only the areas closest to the sea were occuppied rather than all of the beach.

In other words, you might have to put your beach brollie and towels down nearly as close to the road as the chiringuitos between now and the end of the Lock Down, but you will at least be on the beach.

She also explained that they have divided the beach up into individual areas and access lanes to the water, using a tractor to mark them out. The line of beach (the shore) that is closest to the water will also be left clear so that people can walk along it. The strip is six metres wide starting from the water.

Remember that no lifeguards will be on duty until later on in the month, but there will be surveillance from the Policía Local to make sure that people are keeping to their safety distance.

As for the chiringuitos, not all of them are open, as some are waiting for this coming weekend, and talking of weekends, there were no fines issued last Saturday and Sunday.
