Another victim of the present health crisis is the hugely popular Motril Airshow, which will now be postponed until September.
Other festivals across Spain were cancelled outright, such as Valencia’s Las Fallas, Pamplona’s San Fermín and Buñol’s Tomatina; even Semana Santa took a tumble, yet the Motril air display has merely been postponed. Hooray!
The XV Festival Aéreo Internacional de Motril will now be held at the end of September instead of the planned date of Sunday, June the 21st, as the Real Decreto forbids the holding of multitudinous festivals, including air displays.
The Mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, thanked the event organisers, especially the Chairman of the Asociación Aeronáutica Andaluza Orión, José Miguel Pérez Juárez, for agreeing to postpone rather than cancel the air show this year.
When it does take place, participants will include a Rafale fighter aircraft, Eurofighter Typhoon, an AV-8B Harrier II, trainer aircraft Alat and S-76 Galgo, the transport aircraft, Aviocar and an A-400M, as well as the helicopter display teams Aspa and Papea.
