We’re all suffering economically or otherwise during the paralysation of the greater part of our commercial lifeblood; probably the hostelry trade above all.
Many of us are skint and are having trouble covering all the outgoings with little to no incomings but there is a way that we can help our favourite bars, chiringuitos and restaurants.
There are two online initiatives that are designed to do precisely that in a simple but effective manner: www.adoptaunbar.com or #SalvemosNuestrosRestaurantes.
So how does it work?
The former consists of a webpage where regular customers are invited to pay up front for a few drinks for when their local opens up again. The webpage basically puts the customer in contact with the bar, etc., so that that your favourite water hole gets a bit of help for its cashflow. The customer, on the other hand, knows that when he does gleefully burst through its doors, the first rounds have already been paid.
The link provided above explains the exact procedure, so we invite you to read the FAQs where you will probably find the answer that you’re looking for.
The second option was brought about by the online platform, El Tenedor and the way it works is similar:
The customer purchases a voucher of between 10 and 250 euros so that when the restaurant of chiringuito opens, the customer has part or all of his first meal paid for. This way the establishments receive desperately needed cash to pay their staff, premises rent, etc.
El Tenedor, by the way, belongs to Tripadvisor.
Editorial comment: We can vouch for neither but they both seem not only bona fide but a very good idea. The decision to use either, of course, is your own.
