The Motril fire service already has an alternative fire station prepared in case it were necessary to leave the actual installations should it require fumigating.

The Fire Chief explained that this measure has been agreed upon on a provincial level. He pointed out, for example, that in the city of Granada there are two fire stations, so if one were put out of action, its crews could join the other one.

For this reason municipal installations near the fire station have been fumigated should it be called into service.

The standby facilities are on the upper part of Edifício Urban where, until this arrangement was made, municipal workers were engaged in administrative tasks (Social Services). With the coming into force of the Lock Down, the offices were shut down.

The Fire Chief considers that this space is probably the best available, primarily because it is next to the existing fire station – it would not even entail a complete transfer because the vehicles could be left in the fire station, where they are and just move over the crews, maintenance and administrative staff.
