Dead Fish on Salobreña Beach

SAL Fish on BeachHundreds of dead fish were washed up on the beach between El Peñon and La Guardia in Salobreña yesterday. Seprona (Guardia Civil) began immediate investigation.

This environmental department of the Guardia Civil took samples for analysis to see if they had died from pollution. Their first suspicion is that the fish were dumped by a fishing boat as this kind of fish (lisa = mullet) has little comercial value here. Last year, the same thing happened on Almuñécar’s Playa San Cristóbal.

The maintenance department at the Town Hall was out later to clean up, filling five large sacks with the dead fish.

However, Ecologistas en Acción, is not so sure that this is where the fish came from, considering that they were dumped a little far fetched, as the area of beach affected was about a kilometre in extention.
