The Councillor under whose responsibility this facility lies said that when she came to office following the recent elections she had found that its management lease had expired a couple of years previously. Therefore she had to set about drawing up a new set of terms so that when the new budget comes into force, the management contract could be put up for bidding.
Councillor Ángela López Cano said that her objective was to provide Motril with installations in good condition to house abandoned pets. She also said that she well understood the impatience felt by animal protections associations but that the administrative steps she is taking are absolutely necessary and unavoidable.
The fact is that several animals rights groups had formally complained about the state of the premises; hence the councillor’s words of assurance, etc.
