An Almuñécar man, head of a company, has been sentenced to an 18-month, suspended sentence for manslaughter as a result of gross negligence.
The incident took place on the 11th of September 2013 when a 52-year-old employee, J.M.B.R. went to fix an electrical problem in an irrigation system on a farm, belonging to the condemned man’s agricultural enterprise, where there had been a fire. He tried to move an HT cable lying on wet ground that was connected to the power grid and was electrocuted.
The sentenced man, S.E.R., was handed down a suspended sentence on the condition that he does not commit any other offence in the next two years and pays the set compensation in the stiuplated time frame.
The said compensation amounts to 180,000 euros that go to the widow and son of the deceased man. He also has to pay a fine of 1,800 euros.
