Junta de Los Ríos Rescue

waterfall4An 11-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman had to be rescued by helicopter yesterday from the Junta de Los Ríos above Otivar.

The emergency number 112 received a call around 13.50h from a third person to say that two female excursionists had suffered a fall in a rocky area of the waterfalls – it’s all rocky up there once you start ascending cascades.

According to the caller, they could not walk because of their leg injuries and were stuck in an almost inaccessible stretch of the waterfalls route.

The 11-year-old had a bruised ankle and the young woman had a twisted knee. Both individuals were foreign excursionists.

They were rescued by the Guardia Civil mountain-rescue service (Sereim) and flown to the Parque Tecnológico de la Salud in Granada.
