It took the local fire service almost three hours to put the fire out on the terrace of the Almuñécar, Bing Bang disco-bar under the Paseo del Altillo.

Fire Chief Antonio Ortuño explained that they had been called out around 03.40 to tackle the fire and finally had managed to declare the fire out at 05.20h. and that extensive smoke damage was caused inside the premises via the false ceiling.

The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation, using information provided by the fire service.

This is a big blow, with summer just around the corner, and we wish Sam Duggan and partners all the luck getting the bar back into functioning order.
