You will have noticed that the dustbin men (refuse collectors) didn’t go on strike yesterday. Instead, they’re postponing it until next Monday.
The decision was made after 101 workers out of the 107-man workforce voted in favour of this postponement until Monday the 15th.
The workers union CCOO has decided to accept four of the terms offered by the Town Hall, although with some reservations. The Town Hall, for example, agreed to accept that workers have two consecutive days off a week.
However, the sticking point is the pay scale. If an agreement is not reached between both parties then the strike will begin at the beginning of Semana Santa when the town is choc-a-bloc with visitors and tourists.
