A 63-year-old man fell down dead on Calle Mercado Alto in the centre of Motril, on Saturday the 16th around 12.30h.

An off-duty fireman, Fernando Cardona, witnessed the commotion amongst passersby and tried CPR on the man. He pointed out that although the man was beyond help of this kind, that if somebody finds themselves in the same situation as he was, they should not hesitate to rapidly apply CPR procedure.

Councillor for Citizen Safety, María Ángeles Escámez explained that the Policía Local were soon at the scene and set about redirecting traffic.

The victim had long had heart problems and had suffered a heart attack in 2016 owing to the state of his arteries and his diabetes condition.
