Work on Almuñécar’s Avenida Andalucía concluded yesterday, barring painting the road-surface indicators (parking and loading-unloading areas).
Although the work had a budget of 336,944.61 euros, the final sum was less (209,748.02 euros) so there has been sizeable savings there.
The result is a uniform surface layout for the whole of the avenue – and, of course, the annihilation of all the parking that had once existed along it.
But it is not only about the look of the street surface, but also all the underground infrastructure in the form of rain drainage, telephone lines, mains water, mains electricity and the sewage system.
The Councillor for Urban Development, José Manuel Fernández, said that not only had there been a saving on costs, but that the company also will be erecting 40 street lamps (LED lighting) in the centre of the town.
