The emergency services are searching for a French tourist who was swept into the sea, on Wednesday around 16.30h in Portocolom (Mallorca).

Her husband plunged into the sea after her but she had disappeared from sight. Unable to find her, he alerted 112, which mobilised two helicopters and several Guardia Civil patrols, both on land and out to sea (Coast Guards).

However, so far the victim, who doesn’t know how to swim, has not been located.

The Balearic Islands has had very unsettled weather this week, especially on the day of the incident, with winds up to 100kph and intensive rain.
