Herradura Anti-Chiringuito Protest

LHR Urb CastilloSo far, over 300 signatures have been collected in La Herradura against the building of a new Chiringuito. The structure is going up in front of the Urbanización Castillo.

The reason for this opposition is that it will occupy the beach right in front of the said blocks, leaving it “without a beach.” We’re talking about the area in front of Restaurante Nueva Arena.

Another reason given for denouncing the project to the Public Prosecutor Department of the Ministry of the Environment is because it will have a negative impact on the existing restaurants opposite to where the chiringuito will be located.

The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruíz, says that the project has all its papers in order and that the decision to approve the chiringuito or not is for the Ministry of the Environment to decide; not the Town Hall.

But the locals affected couldn’t give a damn if the project has all its papers in order; it is simply not the right place for a chiringuito, they consider.

Editorial comment: it is, indeed, incomprehensible, that Costas wants to demolish the Windsurf building on the beach, which has been there for 30 years, yet up comes another chiringuito. Where’s the logic?
