The acclaimed work of María Gómez ‘La Canastera’ arrives in Almuñecar with the presentation of her latest Flamenco show entitled, Mujer on June the 17th.
This year women have poured out onto the streets in defence of their rights in a society where their presence continues to expand. So it will come as no surprise, Maria explained, that women now dominate the flamenco field, with a greater presence in the last ten years with shows created by women who cross cultural barriers and connect with the public.
Maria Gomez will entertain us with her Flamenco show Woman based on the history of women through the ages who overcame the adversities of life; abandonment, rejection, mistreatment, desired, loved, rejection, freedom, with the help of Flamenco Dance.
For a spectator not accustomed to the work of María Gómez and Niño Carmelo, it shows their surprising virtuosity and their striving to break new ground, but without forgetting their flamenco roots, as flamenco is one of the purest arts that exist and will continue to be for centuries thanks to its resilience.
