A total of 35 ambulances have been destroyed or damaged by fire in Arrigorriaga, Vizcaya. There are strong indications that it was deliberate.

The fire broke out around 05.00h on Thursday the 12th and took the fire service units several hours to bring under control and put out.

In the same vehicle park there was a total of 180 ambulances, 30 were burnt out and five damaged.

The Basque regional police, Ertzaintza are investigating the incident, which coincides with a change over of the company holding the service contract.

But this was not the first attack against this kind of vehicle as on the previous Thursday 90 ambulances had their tyres slashed.
