Almuñécar now has a new municipal gymnasium, which is located in the municipal swimming-pool building in San Cristóbal.

It occupies a space of 250 sq/m and is designed to cater for several activities as it is divided into separate spaces: cardiovascular/aerobics, muscle toning/building and finally one for functional workouts.

Once the usage rules have been drawn up users will be able to combine the gym use with the swimming pool – the company that manages the pool will also manage the gym.

“The gym that was in the municipal stadium was too small and the gym machinery was not publicly owned – it belonged to the company that had the concession – so, taking advantage of the fact that the pool concession was coming to an end, we transferred the clubs that used the available space in the municipal pool to the stadium to make room for the new gym location,” explained the Councillor for Sports, Luis Aragón.

Right, as far as gym times go, opening times will be the same as those of the pool: Monday to Friday, from 09.00h to 13.00h and 16.00h to 21.00h; on Tuesdays & Thursdays the afternoon period will be extended to 22.00h. Saturdays it only opens in the morning from 09.00h to 13.30h.
