Sewage Spill Off Nerja

The storms that lashed the Andalusian coast during March once again smashed the main, sewage pipe in Nerja that dumps untreated sewage into the sea.

This seabed pipeline, which starts from the mouth of Río Chillar, is supposed to take the sewage out at least a mile – to the delight of neighbouring towns – but a section of the pipe was found floating some 200 metres out towards the end of March.

We say once again because the same thing happened about a yeaar ago. Since then the Nerja Town Hall spent 100,000 euros on repairing it.

The company that maintains the pipeline, Aguas de Narixa, has been informed so that it can be fixed.
