Rubbish in the Aqueduct Park

ALM Rubbish in Aqueduct ParkWorkers have filled five, large, rubbish bags with bottles, plastic and other litter in the aqueduct park next to Carbonnel in Almuñécar.

The Councillor for Culture, Olga Ruano, says that she is annoyed by this “lack of collaboration and by the antisocial behaviour by some residents” of the town.

“We could understand if the wind blew paper and pieces of plastic down into the aqueduct pit, but it is hardly likely to blow empty glass bottles into it,” she said.

“I wish to publicly denounce this behaviour and ask for collaboration with and respect for these archaeological areas – it’s not a lot to ask,” she concluded.

Editorial note: one of our online readers noticed a procession-caterpillar nest in the pit and sent in an email alerting the authorities to this danger. She received no response and I have been trying to contact the councillor responsible. Hopefully, this cleaning crew will have removed the nest.
