We covered the flooding down on the Costa Tropical quite a lot, but what about inland? Órgiva has had its problems; and plenty!

The municipal dependency of Los Cigarrones had to be evacuated on the 3rd because of the rising level of the river. The many inhabitants were moved to the municipal sports pavillion whilst others opted to move in with friends in Órgiva or nearby cortijos.

The Mayor of Órgiva, María Ángeles Blanco, said, “We found it necessary to activate the Emergency Contingency Plan to avoid a tragedy.”

The Policía Local, the Guardia Civil and volunteers from Protección civil were all involved in evacuating the said area.
