5-Star Hotel Debated

ALM unfinished 5 starThe latest Plenary Meeting of the Almuñécar Town Council dealt with the 5-star hotel in San Sebastian, amongst other points.

It was agreed to accept partially the allergation presented by Trinitario Betoret, in the name of the Complejo Residencial Salud y Natura S.A., confirming the building licence issued on the 28/06/2005 and approach the Regional Advisory Board for its opinion.

They also voted to suspend the legal maximum period for resolving an issue whilst the said administrations deliberates.

Although the motion was approved, it was far from unanimous. The IU Councillor radically opposed the motion because his party could not understand why this should be brought up after so much time. “What has been the change in the Council’s criteria,” he asked. His party supports initiatives where hotels are concerned, but only where they are legally built.

The Councillor for the Andalucistas (Benavides), Manuel Juárez, said that his party was in favour of growth in the hotel sector and that this decision was a step towards finding a way to open Almuñécar’s first 5-star hotel.

The governing party’s Spokesman, José Manuel Fernández, explained that it the idea was to obtain the Advisory Board’s opinion, and once it had been obtain, to debate the situation again in a Plenary Meeting.
