The Motril Town Council has plans to eliminate parking on the Plaza de la Tenería, which is the one next to the municipal market.
For this reason the spokeswoman for the PP, Luisa García Chamorro, has called on the Mayor to consult public opinion on the project – especially after what happened when they carried out changes to Calle Ancha which upset locals.
The PP Councillor especially recommends that the Mayor speaks with the stallholders at the municipal market, as they will be the most affected.
The project that the Mayor is managing has a budget of 600,000 euros, 240,000 euros coming from the municipal coffers – a sizeable sum of money that warrants consulting public opinion, considers the PP.
The project will see the elimination of all of the parking as well as the loading/unloading bays for traders, according to the PP.
However, the plans that the PP has access to is a preliminary sketch and not the definitive project plan, therefore, they argue, the Mayor still has the opportunity to sound out the stallholders and residents in general.
