Now it is the turn of the Almuñécar socialists (PSOE) to hit out at the plans for the Paseo del Altillo and the project to return it to 2-way traffic.

“Whilst in many other places all the paseos are designed to gain space for pedestrians, in Almuñécar the Local Government is doing the opposite,” observed PSOE Councillor, María Dolores Manzano Martin.

She went on to say, “Far from solving anything, creating 2-way traffic on the Altillo will just create chaos, especially in the summer.”

Another PSOE Councillor, Pablo Ruiz Díaz, observed, “If the problem is that the flat cobblestones are sinking (causing ruts) and the flowerbeds are leaking water down into the car park, then they should repair the problems, without wasting money on something that has no logical benefit.”

Editorial comment: It has been pointed out that the only reason that the conservative PP want to widen the Altillo road is so that they can put the Semana Santa stands there, as they were before the new paseo was built.
