If you have been past the Chinasol building on San Cristóbal in Almuñécar you will have seen that they have been busy where the barranco ends.

The barranco in question is the Barranco de los Marinos and it comes out between Chinasol and Edifício Mariote, where they have recently opened a medical centre-cum-hospital.

The work, with a budget of 60,000 euros (oh look; 10 million pesetas!) consisted of sorting out the pavement between the two builings where it crosses the barranco – anybody with mobility problems or pushing a pram used to find it far from ‘user friendly.’

Furthermore, when it rained and the barranco was carrying water, you ran the risk of being washed away and up onto a Moroccan beach. The new arrangement has the water channeled underneath the pavement.

Anyway, have a shuffty at the photo and all will become clear as to what the industrious municipal maintenance department has been up to.
