A road-sweeping machine in Vélez-Málaga went up in flames on Tuesday; reports that it had been speeding are unsubstantiated.

The incident, which occurred in the Barrio Pueblo Nuevo de la Axarquia, soon had the Policía Local and firemen on the scene. Besides the incinerated vehicle, a nearby parked car was also damaged.

But the fire service had other chores that day because they also had to put out an abandoned moped in flames on Calle Fortaleza Alya in the early hours of that same morning.

Then there was the road accident at 07.10 on the thoroughfare of Caleta de Vélez when a car drove into a lamppost. The driver, J.M.O.B. gave positive alcohol reading on a breath test.
