There is more information concerning the road death in Motril where three people were knocked over and one of them killed on the spot.

The victims were all elderly women who were out for a walk together on Tuesday (2nd) afternoon. The dead woman, Dolores, was 72 and the other two, 66 and 79. Dolores was buried yesterday afternoon.

The 48-year-old woman driver, who gave a negative reading for alcohol & drugs, claimed that she had become momentarily dazzled by the sun which is why she hadn’t seen them on the zebra crossing. Police took photographs of the sun’s position the next day to corroborate this statement.

The accident occurred on a zebra crossing on Avenida de la Rambla de los Álamos, next to the Mercadona supermarket, and the force of the impact threw the victims about ten metres.
