Two hikers were injured after a cow charged them yesterday in the municipality of Lugros (near Guadix). As a result of the impact, one of them fell down a barranco.
The emergency-services number 112 received a call who then alerted the Guardia Civil, the Guadix fire service, an ambulance and even Infoca, the forest-fire extinction agency.
One of the two hikers was attended to on the spot by people who had seen the incident take place whilst the Infoca lads had to fish the other one out – a 47-year-old man – from the bottom of the barranco.
Both victims were taken to the area hospital in Guadix; neither was seriously hurt… nor the cow, it seems.
