Almuñécar Municipal Sports Stadium saw the opening of the Spanish and Andalusian Championships for multi-rotor races (drones), which will be held this weekend!
However, the event itself will be in the Aquatropic – the Andalusian championships were held there last year, too.
The event is expected to attract 45 drone pilots from all over Spain, including Andalucia, Murcia, Valencia and Cataluña, amongst others.
It is going to be a 2-day event, with Saturday being registration day, checking the drones and the first qualifying heats. Sunday will see the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals
The Universidad de Valencia will be collaborating with video coverage provided by the Circular Wirless company.
The drones weigh just a couple of hundred grammes, but can reach speeds of 200 kph. The pilots, or operators, will be wearing special goggles to receive the relayed images from the drones as they fly around the circuit.
The organisers are the Costa Tropical, aero-modelling club, RC.Costa Tropical, which was founded in 1993.
