Motril has found a solution for Los Moriscos Golf Course, which faced losing half of its 18 holes; Hacienda has been swayed by the Town Hall’s reasoning.

Accordingly, the Mayor, Flor Almón, has said that in the next Plenary Meeting of the Town Council there will be a motion put forward, which already has the backing of all political parties (except the IU).

In other words, politically speaking, everything is sorted and now it’s just a case of coordinating with Hacienda, who will cede the land to the Town Hall, who will then take charge of it and administer its lease to a third party.

According to the Mayor there are several entities interested, including the actual owner of Los Moriscos Golf Course. The lease will be cheaper than what Hacienda had wanted and the earnings will go directly to the municipal coffers.

The first step, after the Plenary vote, is to formally request a suspension of the eviction sentence, thus gaining time to sort out all the paperwork.

So, Motril gets to save its golf course, conserving its 18 holes, thus maintaining a tourist asset for the town
