Three rock bands from neighbouring Almeria rocked Almuñécar on Friday the 15th in the Town Hall Square as a farewell concert to the summer.
Ruta 69, FM and Tentado por el Silencio played to a reasonably packed square during the Festival Local Rock with Ruta 69 opening the show playing songs from Elvis and Chuck Berry to Spanish bands (Leño) Rosendo and La Guardia (the latter was an 80s/90s band from Granada).
Next came FM who performed covers of the Beatles but then progressed to the best known 80s/90s songs, and proved to be a honed covers band.
The last on were the Tentados por el Silencio, who mainly did covers of the Spanish 80’s band from Zaragoza, Héroes del Silencio (the Heroes lead singer, Enrique Bunbury later went on to be a solo artiste, Bunbury).
And there ended the summer’s open-air concerts and activities in general until next year. There will be the Open Mike Nights down on the Paseo during the winter, of course, so Friday night was not a night that will be remembered as the Day that Music Died.
