Tram Trials Progress

Avenida Blas de Otero in Maracena is causing problems for the Granada tram trial, as there has been three incidents with other vehicles along it.

Most of these incidents don’t even involve a collision although there was one involving a female car driver around the middle of August. Car drivers getting in the way at junctions, where trams have the right way, or, incredibly, parking next to trams-stop platforms, are the sort of things that crop up.

But it’s not only other vehicles causing the problem; so far during August – a supposedly quiet month in Granada, as have the city is down on the coast enjoying summer breaks – there have been 51 involving blocking trams stops, 36 of which were caused by pedestrians and cyclists.

Tram trial; i.e, taking out the tram cars into normal traffic, knocked up 14,403 kilometres between the 7th and 13th of August. However the total of kilometres covered since trials began in February stands at 97.495 km along its 16-km long of track.

The Granada tram system has 15 trams, 26 tram stops, including a tram station, and connects Granada to Albolote, Maracena and Armilla.
