An 18-year-old Irish tourist gave birth to a baby girl in a hotel in Nerja on the 10th, assisted by her 19-year-old partner and members of the hotel staff.

The woman had gone into labour around nine in the morning but the process was so rapid that it was all over bar the shouting before the ambulance had even arrived; the paramedics were left with the task of cutting the umbilical cord.

The arrival of the ambulance, pulling up on the Balcón de Europa, caused a lot of curiosity amongst the tourists having their breakfast.

The couple had arrived to spend a week’s holiday in Nerja and now the child will probably be a regular visitor over the coming years because the hotel has decided to award the baby girl a lifetime discount at their establishement.

Some people are just born lucky!
