The Salobreña opposition party, the Partido Popular (PP) considers it as “madness” for the old town of Salobreña to be catalogued Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz.
In their opinion, the Town Hall would lose decision-making capacity over the casco antiguo (old town)
“We reacted in horror because it was too important a decision to take unilaterally, as it very much affecs the town,” explained the party Spokesperson, Mari Carmen Vílchez.
According to the PP the governing party did not consult anybody; not even the old town’s residents, nor the businesses up there, despite it affecting the day-to-day running of the area.
Editorial comment: So far we have received no press release from the Mayor, Sra Rufino, on this matter. We imagine that if there were no benefit from this decision, it wouldn’t have been taken.
