Salobreña’s Habaneras

SAL Habaneras 2017Starting on the 30th of June and lasting until the 2nd of July, Salobreña will be holding a Habaneras Festival where Argentina will be the invited country.

The Festival Internacional de Habaneras y Música Iberoamericana de la Costa Tropical, which will be held in the Anfiteatro Nilo Cruz, will comprise of three days of Central & South American Music, as well as Carribbean.

So, there’s plenty of live music – not to be missed!

The idea behind the festival, according to the Mayor Mª Eugenia Rufino, is to highlight things in common between the Costa Tropical de Granada and Las Americas, such as the sugar industry, rum and tropical fruit, such as mango and guayaba.

Argentina, will be providing Camaleón Tango of considerable renown in the said country, consisting of dance and music performances.

There will be two groups a day: Dílar (Asociación Músico Cultural) and Jaén (Charanda). as well as the Alpujarra (Alma Alpujarreña). Also participating is the local group Cantares.

An Argentinean resident here on the coast has been chosen to give an opening speech for the event, speaking about Argentina and its culture.

The Festival is organised by the Salobreña-based, cultural association, Salamandroña, together with the Federación Granadina de Plectro (FEGRAP).
