Infoca was still stamping out the last grumpy resistance of the mountain-brush fire just outside the entrance to the canyon (N-323), using its largest helicopter asset, yesterday evening.

Besides the heavy-lift helicopter with a ‘bambi’ slung underneath, there were still two 4×4 fire trucks and 33 firefighters working on the area is known as the Barranco del Búho yesterday around 15.00h.

In reality, we talking about two separate fires having burned this week, one a mere 200 metres from the first.

The first broke out Tuesday and was all done and dusted by Thursday evening when a second fire broke out just after midnight; i.e., the first hours of Friday morning.

Infoca declared this second fire ‘controlled’ at 19.00h yesterday. Neither the exact extent of the two fires is known, nor what caused them.
