The Policía Nacional on the Balearic Islands have arrested two universitiy professors at the UIB (Universidad de las Islas Baleares) for fraud involving a false medicine.
Three other university collaborators were also arrested on the 11th April, accused of cheating cancer patients out of a total of 600,000 euros, selling them a ‘cancer-cure drug’ that appears to be little more than a placebo.
The professors had been reported to the police by cancer patients, some of whom had handed up to 25,600 euros for dosages of this ‘wonder drug.’ The accused made the drug in the university’s own laboratories.
Using their own position to give credibility to their ‘product,’ which was registered to a spin-off company belonging to the UIB, the drug had not been approved by any medical body; i.e., the Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios.
