It is, by now, all around the town of Almuñécar, the news of the death of 3-year-old Yeray Parra Martin, whose body was found floating in an open irrigation tank (alberca) on Tuesday the 4th April.
It appears that the toddler, at a given moment, went missing whilst the mother was having a shower at the family cortijo in the area known as Cuesta Cantalobos/Río Seco.
The family called the police at 16.50h to say that the child had gone missing and they were unable to find him. Twenty minutes later his body was found.
The burial service will be held today, Thursday the 6th, in the municipal cemetery at 11.00h – the family have asked for privacy at the service to grieve their loss.
The Mayor of Almuñécar has declared the day to be an official day of mourning with the official flags to be flown at half mast.
