Motril will have a new parking area between Calle Melaza and Calle Cañadú, which is publicly owned land, but until now has been an empty plot.

The relevant councillor, Gloria Chica, said that the action comes as a response to a long-standing request from the locals of that area.

Not only will this large space serve as parking, but it will also contain a gardened area alongside the parking slots to provide shade.

The transformation will cost 57,000 euros, which will come from PFEA funds; i.e., grants received to foment rural employment during 2016-17, and should take approximately two months to finish.

Editorial comment: makes a nice change to see a Town Hall creating parking space instead of eliminating it.
