Four months after having disappeared, the body of 66-year-old David J. Olman was discovered by a group of hunters in the municipality of Huércal-Overa.

Mr Oldman was last seen in the area in June this year, whilst on holiday in Spain, training for a walking marathon from London to Gibraltar. Concerns were raised when he failed to get his flight back to the UK on the 14th of June.

Mr Oldman, who was an expert hiker, was very well known in his home city, Leicester, where he was a Councillor.

He had left the hostal where he had passed the night in order to begin the next day’s route but he never reached the next night’s stop. There were no calls made from his phone.

A search was carried out along his planned route through the Valle del Almanzora, using tracker dogs and aircraft but no trace of him was found until the hunters stumbled upon his remains on the 9th of October.
