The new bus station for Motril has been a saga that has stretched into years of waiting, broken promises and setbacks… yet now it’s here… sort of!
An official from the Regional Public-Works Board, Felipe López, officially signed over the bus station to the Mayor of Motril at a press call inside the station.
Lots of flowery words were exchanged as well as mutual back slapping over the completion of a structure that cost 1.7m euros… and a lot of patience.
“The Junta has carried out its part and we have carried out ours, which has been the external layout infrastructure, costing the town 250,000 euros,” she explained, adding, “now we only have to award a management lease to the bid winner.”
Yes, you heard right: the station has been officially handed over and inaugurated, but it will be a couple of months before it is open and functioning..
So no quibbling; there is a spanking-new bus station… but no buses stop there yet (it’s a bit like Britain’s new aircraft carrier that has no aircraft) but before the year is out, its walls will echo with the sound of manoeuvering buses and jubilant passengers!

It’s right next to the Puntalón roundabout. Hang on, I’ll include a google map to the article, 😉
Where is the new bus station located please ?
