The body of a North-African immigrant was found yesterday just off a beach in La Mamola, east of Castell de Ferro.

The man’s body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, was found next on an inflated, lorry inner-tube.

According to the Guardia Civil report, a group of bathers spotted the body at 17.30h floating about 20 metres from the shore and immediately alerted the emergency services via 112.

However, before the Guardia Civil launch could reach the body the strong Levante current had already brought it to the beach.

Both the Guardia Civil and the Policia Local took charge of the body until an official from the judicial authorities authorized its removal.

It was on the 15th of August that another body appeared in a small cove on the Punta de la Mona.
