A woman has been arrested in Almuñécar for having allegedly carried out burglaries in a hostal and a private residence whilst the owners slept.
The 30-year-old woman, who has a criminal record, is accused of having entered a room in the said hostal on the 20th of August at 02.30h, having scaled the facade and forced open the window. According to the police, she made off with a handbag whilst the victim was sleeping.
Nevertheless, the noise that she made in the room woke a sleeping woman just as the burglar was climbing back out of the window.
The description given by the victim matched those given by passersby who had witnessed the burglar jumping back down to the street. The police were able to identify the suspect, a known wrongdoer in town, and arrested her the next day.
However, later on that same night, approximately two hours after the hostal incident, the suspect is said to have gained entrance to a flat on Calle Los Claveles in Almuñécar.
She allegedly took advantage of the fact that a balcony door was open, needing only to break the mosquito screen to gain entrance to the living room. The burglar made off with a briefcase, a laptop computer and a tablet, whilst the couple and their children slept.
The police, after carrying out an inspection of the flat, found evidence that linked the burglary to the one at the hostal early in the night.
