Baza, over the last 31 years, has played host to dancers and musicians as far afield as Indonesia, Uruguay and Russia, thanks to its Festival Internacional de Folklore.
This year the festival will be held on the 13th and 14th of August and will offer traditional dance groups from Argentina: Gran Ballet Argentino, and the Krasnogorsk Dance and Music Group from Russia… with love.
There will also be dance groups from Spain, too: Danzas de Villena (Alicante), Grupo Antonio de Torresn (Almería) and Grupo Municipal de Coros y Danzas (Baza); i.e. the home team.
All told we’re talking about 170 musicians and dancers.
As said earlier in this article, the festival will span two days, starting at midday Saturday the 13th with a dance tour around the city’s monuments: La Plaza Mayor, El claustro de Santo Domingo, Los Baños Árabes, La Alameda and San Jerónimo.
But the top performance will be in the fairground starting at 21.00h on Saturday and Sunday.
So there you have it; another cultural nugget from the Seaside Gazette, offering alternative activities to the ones that seaside town do.
