Rock at the Top

AND Sierra Concert OnLIt’s high summer; you’re a mere appendage to the aircon in your car or home… how would you like to be somewhere where you need a coat, if only for a couple of nights?

No, I’m not talking about putting your aircon on overdrive but about travelling just over an hour and going to a rock concert at the top of the Sierra Nevada.

What’s more, it’s free, woo hoo!

Yes, on the 19th and 20th of August the Sierra Nevada skiing village will be hosting a free rock concert, for the seventh summer running, with at least eight bands pummeling out the sound watts.

Who’s playing? The Sex Museum, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro and The Parrots, a kingpin band in the Madrid underground music scene – and no, I don’t mean buskers on the metro there.

If you like the idea of combining rock, jazz and swing then Dry Martina should interest you.

OK, so let’s get down to details: the concerts will be in the Plaza de Andaluciá – at a mere 2,100 metres; hence the need of a good coat. Not only are the concerts free, but so is the underground parking!

The hotels up there are putting in special deals, starting at 20 euros, over that weekend, so you won’t have to make your way back down again in the dark. More info: or 902 708 090.

The concert, sponsored by San Miguel beer, is rated as the highest rock concert in Spain

So, summing up:
Friday the 19th: Sex Museum, Dry Martina, Brío Afín.
Saturday the 20th: Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, The Parrots and Estévez.
