That might sound like an observation on the quality of the police but it is in fact what their task is: controlling illegal rubbish dumping, litter dropping and dog droppings etc.
Yes, the Motril Town Hall has decided to task the Policía Local to cruise the streets in plainclothes to catch litter bugs in the act. It doesn’t matter whether you are littering the pavements with wrappers or letting your mutt adorn the pavement with its last meal; you’ll be nabbed!
These plainclothes patrols will also be out to make sure that you don’t put your rubbish out before time or after the refuse collectors have already passed by.
Councillor Francisco Sánchez-Cantalejo explained that to date they have not received the go ahead from the provincial Sub-Delegate but if and when they do, they will use volunteers within the police force for this task.
So there you have it, as you stand there sniggering whilst your mutt squats, squints and squishes; be prepared for a tap on the shoulder from somebody in civvies armed with a fines pad.
